Illegal
immigration, Sewers and FountainsJune
17, 2009
Gentlemen,
The U.S. 8th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled
that local governments can suspend the business permits of companies that hire
illegal immigrants.
The question now becomes, is the Ft. Smith city government
going to uphold the 8th Circuit’s ruling, or continue to be shills
for the Chamber of Commerce and the Manufacturing Executive Association? Will Sheriff Frank Atkinson, as chief law
enforcement agent of the county, finally uphold his sworn Constitutional
duties?
Can a citizen assume (assume is a very dangerous word) that
the soon expiring Sewer Tax was used totally for sewers and directly related
projects?Or was the Sewer Tax dumped
into politician’s honey-hole known as the General Fund and expropriated for
other quasi-government activities?
Can citizens expect the recently voted on extension of the
Sewer Tax be put into a designated sewer tax fund and be spent exclusively for
sewer improvements and directly related sewer projects that the Feds have
demanded for the past 2 decades? The
citizens voted for the expansion, believing the revenues would be exclusively
used for sewer projects.The citizens
vote was based on honesty, now can we expect answers to the aforementioned
questions?
Fountains:Is it true
that $50,000 has been budgeted for 3 fountains (not drinking) for Carol Ann
Cross Park?As citizens economic trouble
continue to balloon, politicians & bureaucrats continue to spend taxpayers
hard earned money on silliness as if there were no tomorrow.
The easiest job in the world is to spend other folk’s money!
In a time when it is of utmost importance to cut out non-essentials,
Fort Smith city leaders are oblivious to national, state & city conditions. It’s past time to pare down government and
cut the tax cord.
