Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center (IEC) government program

Subject:  IEC/theft                                                                                  February 22, 2009

To: Selected members of city government (not including Director Maddox who is always on the side of citizens) & other related types:

At the outset, may I tell you that entrepreneurialism is not taught, particularly by professional politicians & bureaucrats who have been on the government teat most, if not all, their adult lives…and certainly you/they have never, ever created or sustained a legitimate job, e.g. not government positions. Entrepreneurialism is an inherited pre-disposition and a genuine entrepreneur will not be bellying up to a government trough to learn the art.

IEC’s abound across our Republic, just another expensive means subsidized by the producers to indoctrinate Americans, and in this case Ft. Smithians, that they must rely on government to be successful.  What happened to individual responsibility?  Oh, I forgot it takes a village and we all know that practice created our once preeminent republic—yeah right?

Now to the matter of theft.  Fort Smith City Mayor, City Directors, and the Chancellor of UAFS are all guilty.  I will give the Chamber of Comrades a pass for now—you know, the cheap slave labor, open-borders crowd.  You’ve willfully taken hard-earned taxpayer dollars, without our knowledge or consent, and frittered it away on another government-expanding scheme.  You have no Constitutional, legal, or moral authority to engage in such practices of forced redistribution.

I don’t have access to the totality of taxpayer dollars wasted in this superfluous expansionary exercise.  Recent expenditures show the city of Ft. Smith has dumped in at least $50,000.  A quote by UAFS Chancellor Beran, “the person who has the job is employed by the University, that’s our contribution to the IEC.”  I have reason to believe that Beran was being less than honest.  There are indications that UAFS has already dumped in at least $90,996.00.  Who do you believe? Perhaps when Beran returns from another one of his taxpayer subsidized global voyages, he may want to address the credibility or lack of, his statement above in quotations.

This exercise performed by the two aforementioned agencies is akin to the city of Ft. Smith acting in their ultra-benevolent capacity in funding golf tournaments, riverfront endeavors, giving bloated city government employees a 2 ½ % pay raise (while the citizens paying for this grand largesse are being laid off by the thousands), ad infinitum. As stated before, we are in the throes of a depression. How about running a government on logical priorities? None of the above is a proper function of government.

This is more proof that the city government is bloated with taxpayer funds, employees, taxation too high, and awash in gross incompetence.

Who is really running the city of Fort Smith?  I see Assistant Mgr. Cossack’s name associated with every public utterance, never City Mgr. Kelly, so who is really running the city into the ground?  Is it the Central Business District?

Stop your theft of my tax dollars!

Kindest regards,

Joe McCutchen

Ft. Smith
