FOI response from Arkansas State Police regarding usage of
the Spanish language in various advertising forms and associated costs.
August 23, 2007 Arkansas State Police let a contract to
Phillips Brothers Printers, Springfield, IL. for 50,000 copies of a 60 page
color brochure in Spanish which serves as a study guide for Arkansas driver’s
licenses. Another contract was let the
same day, same contractor, for 25,000 books also dealing with a study guide in
Spanish for driver’s licenses. By what
authority do the various state agencies have in issuing driver’s licenses to
illegal foreign nationals? In the same vein, why are there 2 page documents
printed in Spanish for voter registration?
The total of these two contracts was $44,200.00. An Illinois
tax of $2, 727.00 brought the grand total to $46,927.00.
The costs for color photography, the translations, the contents
and the production of these 60 page books were not accounted for in this
response to the FOI.
Three more color brochures in Spanish dealing with car seat
safety, DWI consequences, and Move Over were printed 9/27/07. The total number of copies for these 3
brochures was 400,000. These brochures were printed by UAMS (?), Box 3920,
Little Rock, AR 72203, with a net cost of $27,672.50.
These brochures went to five non-governmental agencies and
six governmental agencies.
A 5 week radio/TV campaign running throughout 2007 dealing
with Spanish spots totaled $37,883.27.
It is interesting to note that the State Police Labor Day campaign from
8/20/07-9/3/07 cost taxpayers $420,799.15. Furthermore, fees paid for production,
translation and dubs are inconclusive. Your tax dollars at work?
This FOIA pronounces in a vivid fashion there is no end to
reckless, unaccountable, out of control spending by government agencies, and
more importantly there is no taxpayer oversight. To compound this corruption the Arkansas
State Police, along with the Dept. of Parks & Tourism and the Univ. of
Arkansas athletic department are not
only in violation of U.S. Law, but also in violation of Arkansas statutes. By the way, Arkansas has a law stating that
English is the official language of our state and our republic. Why are these laws being scoffed by the very
people we elect and appoint to protect us?
From my vantage point, Arkansas government is involved in
double jeopardy, make that triple jeopardy.
They are servicing illegal aliens, by doing so they break U.S. and Ark. Law
and steal from Arkansas taxpayers to fund their corrupt practices
Obviously middleclass citizens are being made fools of by
Arkansas’s crime families,….the Tyson’s (John Tyson just received a $7 million
salary increase), the George’s, the Simmons, the Wenderdoth’s and other poultry
barons, plus construction, landscapers, etc. just to name a few, while
middleclass taxpayers bear the burdens of the illegals’ healthcare, education,
welfare, law enforcement, ad infinitum.
Citizens, are you going to continue to be enamored with the
Democrat & Republican Parties who aid and abet our demise?
